Puffer jackets for men

Warmth does not come from the fabric itself, but from the air trapped between the layers. That is the whole principle behind a puffer jacket: the padding holds air in small chambers, the quilting keeps the filling from shifting, and the result is a jacket that feels much warmer than its weight suggests. Pretty clever, right?

Our puffer jackets for men range from lightweight styles for cool summer evenings and transitional weather to generously padded jackets for the cold winter months. Choose from black, grey, green, blue, beige and brown, with a hood or a high stand collar, in regular or longer lengths – and in a range of sizes designed to suit different builds.

What makes a men’s puffer jacket

The characteristic horizontal seams are not just a design detail. They divide the jacket into chambers, each keeping its share of the filling in place. Without them, the padding would slide down after a few weeks – cold shoulders, bulky hem. The number and width of the chambers affect both how the jacket feels and how it looks.

There is another advantage you only really appreciate in everyday life: puffer jackets can be compressed without being damaged. Backpack, car seat, travel bag – they spring back into shape. Few other warm jackets are this forgiving.

Light or thick? Choosing the right padding

This is the real buying decision, and it depends less on taste than on what you need the jacket for.

A lightly padded puffer jacket is made for spring and autumn. It fits under a larger coat, can be draped over the back of an office chair and does exactly what it should at around ten degrees. On cool summer evenings, it may be the only layer you need.

With heavier padding, it becomes a winter jacket: more volume, more chambers and more insulation. If you only want one jacket for the cold season, this is the version we would point you towards.

Hood or stand collar?

A puffer jacket with a hood gives extra protection from wind and rain – useful if you spend a lot of time outdoors or walking. It is also the more common of the two options in our collection. A high stand collar looks cleaner and works better with a shirt underneath.

In short: hood for the weather, stand collar for the office. We have both, and both are easy to wear.

How long should a puffer jacket be?

Most of our puffer jackets come in a regular length and finish around the hips. That proportion works with most trousers and does not get in the way when you sit down.

Longer styles extend further over the thigh and give noticeably more coverage. They are the warmer choice for long winter walks and for anyone who knows the feeling of the cold starting exactly where the jacket ends.

Puffer-jacket colours that last

Black, grey and blue are the safe choices for puffer jackets – they work with almost everything and do not show dust or wear too quickly. Green and brown take the look in a calmer, more natural direction and feature more strongly in our collection than you might expect. Beige is the smartest option and also the most demanding for everyday wear. If you choose it, you usually know why.

How to style a puffer jacket

With jeans and a fine-knit jumper, you get a look that works on almost any autumn day. When it gets colder, add a hoodie underneath – the hood can stay visible and help relax the silhouette.

On your feet, sturdy boots work well. And when the weather really turns, a parka takes over as the outer layer.

Down jacket or puffer jacket – what is the difference?

It is a question we are often asked, and the answer is simpler than it sounds: “puffer jacket” describes the construction, while “down jacket” describes the filling. A puffer jacket can be filled with down, but our styles use synthetic padding.

There are practical reasons for that. Synthetic fibres keep you warm even when damp, dry much faster and are easier to live with day to day. The outer is usually polyester or polyamide: lightweight, durable and suitable for a water-repellent finish. Recycled polyester is also increasingly used.

Puffer jackets from our collection

Our range includes puffer jackets from JACK & JONES ESSENTIALS, ORIGINALS, CORE and PREMIUM – from easy everyday styles to more refined finishes. What changes across the lines is mainly proportion and detailing: from slim, blazer-inspired shapes to fuller blouson silhouettes.

Both are style choices rather than trend choices. The construction itself has been around for decades, and that is exactly what makes the puffer jacket one of the most reliable pieces in your wardrobe.

And don’t forget the rest of our jackets
