Men's Short-Sleeve Shirts

The short-sleeve shirt has an undeserved reputation. For years, it was seen as something for guys who couldn't make up their minds – too formal for T-shirt weather, too casual for the office. Today, we see it the other way round: a short-sleeve shirt is one of the few pieces that works just as well on holiday as in a meeting when the weather is warm.

Our collection of men's short-sleeve shirts includes all-over-print Hawaiian shirts, striped and textured styles, plain classics and short-sleeve denim shirts – mostly in relaxed cuts and colours ranging from white and beige to blue and green. Here's what each style is best for and what to look for in the collar, fit and fabric.

Are short-sleeve shirts still in style?

Absolutely – more than they have in years. Relaxed fits, open collars and fresh, cheerful colours have taken short-sleeve shirts far beyond the traditional office look. They're now a summer wardrobe staple and can really stand out when the print and cut are right. Wearing one doesn't suggest indecision; it shows you're comfortable in your style.

Collars: Cuban, Kent or button-down

The collar defines the shirt's character more than any other detail. There's no cuff on a short-sleeve shirt, so the collar naturally attracts more attention.

  • Cuban collar: Lies flat without a collar stand and is worn open. It's the signature collar of a Hawaiian shirt and our most common collar style. It gives a short-sleeve shirt an unmistakably relaxed, holiday-ready feel.
  • Kent or spread collar: The classic shirt collar with a collar stand and spread points. It looks neater and is a better option for the office.
  • Button-down collar: Small buttons hold the collar points in place. It looks sporty but still polished – ideal for business casual.

Relaxed, Loose or Regular: short-sleeve shirt fits explained

Most of our short-sleeve shirts have an easy-going fit – for a good reason: in summer, air needs to circulate between the fabric and your skin.

  • Relaxed Fit is our most common cut. Roomier through the chest and waist, with a straight shape you can wear open or buttoned up.
  • Loose Fit and Wide Fit are even roomier and often feature dropped shoulders for a modern look.
  • Regular Fit and Comfort Fit are classic cuts that allow movement while maintaining a clean silhouette. Comfort Fit offers extra space around the chest and stomach.
  • Oversize Fit and Cropped Fit make more of a statement: either deliberately very wide or cut shorter in length.

Mixing prints with short-sleeve shirts without clashing

With short-sleeve shirts, the key is how the pattern works with your trousers. A light, plain shirt looks great against dark jeans. A checked shirt pairs naturally with chinos or Bermuda shorts. A Hawaiian shirt really comes into its own with plain chino shorts. The basic rule: let one piece do the talking and keep the other understated. For an especially laid-back look, wear your short-sleeve shirt open over a basic T-shirt.

When long sleeves make more sense

When temperatures drop or the occasion calls for something smarter, simply switch sleeve lengths. Summer may take a break, but your style doesn't.
