Regular Fit Jeans
If any fit deserves to be called the classic standard, this is it. Regular fit jeans are neither tight nor baggy, and they don't need to make a big statement – they're simply jeans that fit. That's exactly their strength: you could wear them twenty years ago, you can wear them today, and chances are they'll still look good ten years from now.
Our men's regular fit jeans come in blue, black, grey and white, mostly with washed finishes but also in solid colours. Here we'll explain what regular fit really means, how it differs from other cuts and how to tell whether your jeans fit properly.
What Is Regular Fit?
Regular fit means a standard, comfortable fit. You'll also see it described as normal fit or used interchangeably with straight fit. For jeans, that means a consistently straight leg from the hips down to the hem. The fabric doesn't cling to your thighs, the leg doesn't taper at the ankle, and the rise is generally medium.
Which Is Tighter: Slim Fit or Regular Fit?
Slim fit. A pair of slim fit jeans follows the body closely from the hips and stays narrow down to the hem. Regular fit leaves noticeably more room around your thighs and knees. If you're choosing between them, think about how much time you spend sitting: regular fit is usually more comfortable for long office days or car journeys. Want some room at the top but a narrower leg below? Go for tapered jeans – that's our Mike model.
Our Regular Fit Classic: Clark
At JACK & JONES, the model name tells you the fit – and when it comes to regular fit, that almost always means Clark. It has a straight cut, clean lines, an even leg shape and a mid-rise waist. Clark comes in plenty of washes, from dark indigo to light vintage looks, with either a zip fly or a classic button fly.
The advantage? Once you've found your size in Clark, you can expect the same fit in every colour. To work out the right combination of waist and leg length, check our size guide or jeans fit guide.
How Should Regular Fit Jeans Fit?
To get the right balance of comfort and a well-proportioned look, check these details when trying on your regular fit jeans:
- The waistband sits at your waist or just below it and doesn't dig into your stomach when you sit down.
- The fabric sits close to your seat without pulling or feeling tight.
- The legs fall straight, with a little space around the thighs – you should be able to pinch about two fingers' worth of fabric.
- The hem rests on your shoes. For a more relaxed look, turn up the cuffs once.
Regular Fit Beyond Jeans
Straight, comfortable and understated: the same principles work for your upper half too. Regular fit T-shirts, shirts and jackets have little or no shaping at the waist and leave enough space around the shoulders, arms and chest. That works especially well for men with an average or broader build. On warm days, a straight-cut cotton T-shirt also feels airier than a close-fitting one. Prefer a more fitted top? Try our slim fit T-shirts.

Sometimes it helps to see the classic next to the other fits. Skinny jeans are much closer-fitting, relaxed fit jeans give you more room at the thighs, and baggy jeans take the look firmly into streetwear territory. Explore all the fits in our jeans collection. And if Clark still comes out on top, even better.
